Psalm 69: Save Me, O God
Word-for-Word Worship Song | Audio Download | Alpha Cross Omega

Psalm 69 is one of the most passionate and heart-crushing psalms of lament. David cries out to God from a place of deep distress, false accusation, and isolation, yet he still clings to hope and worships in the storm. It’s also a messianic psalm, quoted many times in the New Testament to describe Christ’s suffering.
Key verses:
“Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.” — v.1
“I am worn out from calling for help; my throat is parched.” — v.3
“Zeal for Your house consumes me… I endure scorn for Your sake.” — v.9
“But as for me, afflicted and in pain— may Your salvation, God, protect me.” — v.29
This psalm works powerfully as a deep worship lament — a cry of surrender, trust, and worship through suffering.

🎶 Lyrics (Based on Psalm 69:1–36)
Verse 1 (v.1–3)
Save me, O God, the flood surrounds,
Waters rise and pull me down.
I sink in mire without a place,
I cry to You — I long for grace.
My throat is parched from calling loud,
My eyes grow dim beneath the cloud.
I wait for You — no help appears,
I’m drowning in my shame and tears.
Verse 2 (v.4–6)
More than the hairs upon my head,
Are those who hate me without end.
Though I have done no wicked wrong,
They lie and twist — they grow strong.
But Lord, You know my foolish ways,
My sins are not concealed or vague.
Let not the ones who trust Your name
Be put to shame because of me.
Verse 3 (v.7–9)
For Your sake, Lord, I bear disgrace,
I’m mocked and scorned before their face.
A stranger to my kin I’ve grown,
My zeal burns deep — yet I’m alone.
Chorus 1 (v.13–16)
But I will pray, O Lord, in time,
In mercy hear this prayer of mine.
Rescue me with faithful love,
Lift me from the depths above.
Answer me with grace and truth,
Redeem me from this bitter root.
Don’t hide Your face — draw near and save,
From sinking low into the grave.
Verse 4 (v.19–21)
You see my scorn, my shame, my foes,
Insults pierce me deep and close.
Reproach has crushed my soul inside,
I looked for comfort — none would bide.
They gave me gall instead of bread,
With vinegar, they mocked my head.
Bridge: The Cry for Justice (v.22–28)
Let their table be their snare,
Darkened eyes, no mercy there.
Pour Your wrath, and strike them low,
Let their camp be waste and woe.
Blot their names from Your own book,
Let them not on justice look.
They persecute the ones You’ve struck,
And mock the pain of those outcast.
Verse 5 (v.29–31)
But I am poor, in pain and strife,
O God, protect my fragile life.
I’ll praise You with a thankful song,
And lift Your name with voice made strong.
Chorus 2 (v.32–33)
The humble see and will rejoice,
God listens to the lowly voice.
He does not spurn the broken cries,
He lifts them up, He hears their sighs.
Outro: Zion’s Hope (v.34–36)
Let heaven and earth declare His praise,
The seas and all that in them stays.
For God will save Jerusalem,
Rebuild the walls, restore His realm.
His servants there will dwell once more,
Those who love His name endure.
